About 200 children and young people aged 6 to 16 from the Superar Association in BiH and Pop Rock School Sarajevo presented themselves through musical performances and a joint jam session, with the aim of promoting music education, strengthening togetherness and enriching the City Day celebration program with inclusive cultural content. The concert was realized as part of the “City Rhythms of Sarajevo” project, organized by the Association for Development and Affirmation “Building New Lives” and supported by the City of Sarajevo.
Director of Pop Rock School Sarajevo, professor of musical arts and vocal coach Mima Zukan, stated that three bands aged between 12 and 16 performed at the concert, and that the cooperation with the Superar Association makes her especially happy.
“There is no better occasion for such a performance than the celebration of Sarajevo City Day. Music is a powerful tool that can change the way young people perceive the world around them, and we have seen this recently through meetings with young people from London,” said Zukan.
She added that Pop Rock School Sarajevo has educated about 500 children so far and currently gathers ten young bands.
“We nurture the music scene, but what is most important to us is to build a space for socializing, creativity and togetherness among young people through music,” said Zukan.
The artistic director of the Superar Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alma Karić, emphasized that the concert was an opportunity for around 200 children and young people to mark the City Day in a special and authentic way.
“Today we presented a very interesting, international and carefully selected repertoire, and it was especially inspiring to see how the youngest experienced contemporary music. The world rests on the young, and events like this best confirm that,” said Karić.
The instructor of pop rock bands, Ernad Bihorac, pointed out that such performances are of great importance for children, because they give them the opportunity to express themselves in front of their parents and friends.
“The interest among the children is really great, which makes us especially happy and additionally motivates us to continue developing their musical potential,” said Bihorac.
Association for Development and Affirmation “Building New Lives” has been implementing projects in the field of culture, education and social development of importance for Sarajevo and the wider community for 16 years. In the past period, the association has successfully implemented a number of projects, including cultural events for children, educational programs and initiatives in the field of social entrepreneurship. Through the engagement of experts from various fields, the Association continuously works to create space for the development of young talents and improve the quality of cultural life in the city.
