Famous American UFC fighter Sean Strickland caused a storm on social networks after he published a series of comments in which he expressed controversial and offensive views about Islam and Muslims.
His comments, published on the X platform (formerly Twitter), provoked strong reactions around the world, especially within the Muslim community.
Strickland stated in his posts that “America is the land of Christ”, arguing that Christian values are the foundation of American culture, regardless of whether its citizens are Christians, Catholics or atheists.
Although he stated that he had “nothing against Islam or Muslims”, his tone soon became overtly negative.
– America is the land of Christ. You can be Christian, Catholic, atheist, but our main values come from Christ. I have nothing against Islam or Muslims, but Islam should remain in Islamic countries, even though all would benefit from Christ, Strickland wrote, adding that he is an agnostic.
In a subsequent post, he went a step further, claiming that Islam “contributes nothing to the world except violence and oppression.”
– Islamic extremists… You mean people who really follow the teachings of the Quran? Islam is not compatible with America and freedom, Strickland wrote.

When asked by a follower what he thought of the terrorist attack in New Orleans, Strickland went a step further and insulted Prophet Muhammad by saying:
– Muhammed would be satisfied.
These statements provoked public condemnation, with numerous calls for the UFC organization to react.
Critics say Strickland’s public profile bears the responsibility of promoting tolerance and understanding, not fueling division and horrific stereotypes.
