Vukšić: Let the voice and prayer be heard on the feast of life against all violence against human life

On this occasion, Archbishop Vukšić recalled the role of the family, saying that the Church offers the holy family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in which the savior of the world was born, as an example of harmony.

– The family union of a man and a woman is God’s will. The mutual love of husband and wife is a reflection and an imprint of God’s being because God is love, and their mutual love is also a blessed and direct continuation of the work of creation entrusted to them by God himself. Therefore, it should be emphasized that, although every human being is created and born as an image and likeness of God himself, no one is as similar to God as father and mother, because their unique privilege is to be co-creators and collaborators of God in the creation of new images and likenesses of God – said the archbishop of Vrhbosan in the address.

Archbishop Vukšić also said that in our time, Bitel community is increasingly threatened.

– When the birth of new images and images of God is becoming rarer, and violence against women is becoming more frequent, let the voice and prayer be heard right now, on the Feast of Life, against all violence against human life and see the work of supporting healthy upbringing. The family is the most important community in any human society. A child is the greatest treasure and the reason for the deepest joy of every family. And the first cry of a newly born child is the deepest ode and the most beautiful hymn to life that can be heard – pointed out Archbishop Vukšić.

He also said that, according to serious reports, in the year 2023, around 44 million and 600 thousand abortions have been performed in the world. So that year it was the most common cause of death in the world. That is, according to the same reports, the number of abortions was greater than the number of deaths associated with the following seven causes of death combined: infectious diseases, cancer, smoking, alcohol consumption, AIDS, traffic accidents and suicide.

– Today, we especially think of the families and children who suffer and whose lives are threatened due to war, persecution, disease, poverty, and the inability to go to school. And we pray that dear God will encourage noble people and state systems. Persecutions stopped, diseases could be treated, poverty was overcome, and the upbringing and education of every child was possible. With these intentions, as our common prayer, we repeat the words of the Christmas carol. To everyone on earth, peace, joy, be according to God’s will, this is now announced by heaven, and every soul of good will, may eternal sins taste – said Archbishop Metropolitan Tomo Vukšić of Vrhbosna at the solemn Eucharistic celebration in Sarajevo’s Cathedral of the Heart of Jesus.
