In the night from Friday to Saturday, despite the bad weather, the Zagreb police carried out a targeted action to monitor the so-called “car meet” scene in the eastern part of the city.
In cooperation with the employees of the Technical Vehicle Inspection Station, the police officers checked the technical condition of the cars, with a special emphasis on the vehicles of young drivers. A total of 25 vehicles were inspected, and 35 violations were found, the Zagreb police write.
Most fines due to technical malfunction
During the operation, 21 cars and four trucks were controlled. A total of 35 violations from the Road Traffic Safety Act were recorded. The most numerous violations, 18 of them, related to the technical malfunction of the vehicle.
Eight cases of illegal movement on the road, five violations of not using a seat belt and four drivers who did not have a driver’s license were also determined.
As part of the action, employees of the Technical Inspection Station found technical defects on four vehicles. Three vehicles had dangerous defects, while one had a minor defect.
Continuation of actions throughout the city
The Zagreb Police Department has announced that they will continue to monitor places where car enthusiasts gather throughout the city.
The goal of such activities is preventive and repressive action in order to comply with traffic regulations and raise traffic culture for the safety of all participants. The police also emphasize the importance of respecting public order and peace, given that the noise from such gatherings often disrupts the quality of life of citizens, writes Index.hr.
