The Chairman of the Municipal Council Edison Pavlović reminded the importance of the importance and history of the BiH independence and the fact that the decision of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina has brought the years to independent and sovereign state.
-Bosna and Herzegovina went through the most difficult period of his multi-lean history. More than 100,000 lost lives, two million displaced, destruction that have undergone our economic and social development – these are wounds that do not pale and remind us the price of freedom. Today, 33 years later, we are aware that the process of building a democratic and stable society still lasts. It is our duty not to allow the past to keep us trapped, but also to be awake when we recognize rhetoric and threats that return us in the 1990s. As witnesses of that time, we know how much peace, reason and responsibility are key to the future of our children, said Pavlović.
He added that all victims throughout BiH warn us that we must never allow repetition of such a tragedy.
– We talk about the future. Our obligation is to build a society based on justice, equality and development. To strengthen institutions, education, economics, culture and sports – to enable our children and grandchildren’s life worthy of free and proud citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our vision is Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the European family, the state of equal citizens, regardless of their faith, nation or gender. The state in which human rights and freedoms are unquestionable, and its territorial integrity and sovereignty is indisputable, the Chairman of the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council.
Municipality of Novo Sarajevo Benjamin Karić said the independence of the BiH State, which we have renewed, is not only the historical fact – that is “the right to decide to decide for themselves, on their country, under its sky”
– The factual danger to independence is not just external, but also inner. When the independence takes for granted independence, when we think that it is unquestionable, that moment is it becomes the most vulnerable. They are not attacked by only those who challenge it, but it is endangered by any form of internal weakness – corruption, irresponsibility, reluctance and inability to protect institutions that make up the column of our statehood. Therefore, our mission is clear: strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina in every segment. To strengthen its energy independence, that we never be in a position to depend on another’s will. Strengthen the economy, that every citizen has a dignified life. Build and enhance the health and social system, because the state exists because of people, not people because of the state. Strengthen the judiciary, that justice be achievable for everyone. Strengthen the armed forces and the police, because only a safe state can be independent. To expand diplomacy, because BiH belongs to the free, democratic world and has its place among European nations. Improving the education system, because the knowledge and wisdom are our strongest ramparts, Karić said.
We know, she adds, that those who do not like this country will stop attacking and will try to challenge her, destabilize.
– We’re not naive, but we’re not scared. We are not afraid of these attacks, but we will never even underestimate them. Hosni and Herzegovina will be independent as much as it is strong its institutions. And the institutions will be strong as much as we do, which we do, make them independent of crime, corruption and particulate interests. This is the biggest threat to our independence today – and it is a threat to which we can be calculated directly. All other threats, be sure, the sons and daughters of Bosnia and Herzegovina will reject, as they have already celebrated once. We need this and we must speak to me – Bosnians and Herzegovina. Our independence is our responsibility. Our friends from the democratic world can help defend the external threats, but we can only protect our country from within – strengthening institutions and the rule of law, in its address of Benjamin Karić.
Councils of the Council of the Municipal Council of the New Sarajevo, the members of the Republic of the Republic of BiH, Academics Ejup Ganić and Mirko Pejanović, was also addressed to the presence of the Ceremonial Council of the Republic of BiH and Mirko Pejanović.
Along the Councilors and Hall of Novi Sarajevo, representatives of other levels of government attended the ceremonial session, members of the academic community, as well as representatives of veteran associations.
On the occasion of the celebration 1. March, the days of independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from the Fundus of the BiH Historical Museum were cried and an exhibition for the public in the International Center for Children and Youth was borrowed.
