On Tuesday, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), together with officers of the Indirect Taxation Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, searched residential and auxiliary buildings and movable property at six locations in the area of Bijeljina, Tuzla, Gradačac and Lukavac, as part of the operational action codenamed “Gold”.
The searches were carried out by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the criminal offenses of “Smuggling”, “Organizing a group of people or associations for the smuggling or distribution of non-customs goods”, “Illicit trade” and “Tax evasion or fraud” have been committed, prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Two persons who were taken to the premises of SIPA for criminal processing and interrogation as suspects were deprived of their liberty, after which they will be handed over to the further jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the legal term.
In the activities so far, a temporarily seized passenger motor vehicle, spare parts for motor vehicles worth about 3,500 KM, a large amount of textile goods worth about 109,000 KM, gold jewelry in the amount of 1,168 grams worth about 350,500 KM and silver jewelry in the amount of 12,092 grams worth about 145,000 KM, a large amount of perfume worth about 10,000 were discovered. KM, as well as other items that can serve as evidence in further proceedings.
Police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton also participated in the implementation of the operational action “Gold”.
