Macedonian singer and winner of the “X Factor Adria” music competition, Daniel Kajmakoski, was the victim of a kidnapping near Beton Hall in Belgrade, which was followed by a police chase that ended in a traffic accident near Ruma, Serbian media reports.
As reported by Telegraf.rs, the incident happened late in the evening when two men, suspected of being Turkish citizens, intercepted Kajmakoski as he approached his car.
At gunpoint, they forced him into the vehicle, after which they drove away from the scene. According to information from the investigation, the singer was tied up while driving and, as stated, was threatened with death with a request to pay them 20,000 euros.
The police soon received a report about a suspicious vehicle, and the chase ended on the highway near Ruma, where the car hit a guardrail. After the accident, the suspects managed to escape into a nearby forest area.
At the scene of the accident, the police found Kajmakoski bound in the vehicle, in a state of shock, but without life-threatening injuries. He was given medical assistance, after which he was transported to a safe location.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia announced a search for two suspects, who are suspected of being armed and dangerous. The police blocked off the wider area of Srem, and special units, tracking dogs and technical means were involved in the search.
The investigation is ongoing, and the competent authorities need to determine all the circumstances of this event, as well as the motives of the suspects. For now, it is not known whether the singer was a pre-planned target or whether it was an attempt at extortion without prior connection, it says. Klix.ba.
