The symposium gathered a large number of experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, and some of the topics are prenatal diagnostics, congenital anomalies, infections in pregnancy and others.
The President of the Organizing Committee of Sabina Terzić thanked the response participants, and provides this scientific gathering to the excellent opportunity to binding perinatologists from our country and the region, but is the best motivation for future work in such an important area.
– Our responsibility as a perinatologist is not just recognizing and treating complications, but also in the provision of emotional and psychological support to families, as well as in the improvement of work in everyday practice, which helps us reduce the risk for mothers and newborns – said Terzić.
As part of the opening ceremony, the president of the Perinatologist’s Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vajdana Tomić, will point out that the scientific symposium is one of five significant scientific events in the organization of the Association, which gathers the possibility of exchanging knowledge and rich experiences.
– One of the significant forms of promoting excellence is precisely such scientific conferences that aim to achieve good clinical practice, the purposes of evidence, for the purpose of the best possible outcomes for our pregnant women and their newborns. I believe that we justified the basic goal, where we managed to organize a completely non-profit basis, in the first row of fetal medicine and obstetricities, and subspecialists of neonatology for the purpose of promoting scientific and professional excellence, and wanted to work successful work to all participants.
Fahira Imamović, the main sister of childbirth with Puerperija and neonatology of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of the KCUS and Obstetrics KCUS, and the KCUS Obstetrics and Obstetrics. She emphasized that these years in this important scientific meeting are also participating in the for the first time, which is extremely important in strengthening and improving perinatal care because Babice and Pediatric Sisters form an indispensable part of the health team.
– A special gratitude expressed the organizational board that recognized the importance of the role of midwife and pediatric sisters. This is a big step to improve our profession, a step towards greater appreciation and better visibility of what we work every day for women, children, but also families – Imamović stated.
One of the key partners in the implementation of the II scientific symposium is the UN Agency for Sexual and Reproductive Health, in whose name, the participants addressed the director of the Regional Office for BiH, Albania, Serbia, Kosovo and North Macedonia Justine Coulson. Coulson welcomed the present that, although he was not a medical profession, for many years cooperates with a large number of doctors and nurses, and fully understands the invaluable importance of their work in the preservation and improvement of health. He expressed special gratitude to Vajdan Tomić and Sabina Terzić on continuous successful cooperation and invitation to participate in this significant scientific conference.
– Mother health is at the center of our work, and we have our offices in 150 countries around the world. Our goal is to enable all women’s right to reproductive health and high quality health care services, regardless of who, where they live and how much money they have – said Culson.
Acting General Director KCUS Hajrija Maksić welcomed the present emphasising that the common goal of all participants would improve maternal and newborns. It has pointed out that modern perinatological challenges are very complex, but they are also a challenge and inspiration in terms of better training, bindings and communication, regional cooperation and multidisciplinary work.
– It is my pleasure to point out that as a neonatologist, I spent a significant part of my career in childbirth salami. Gynecology and pediatrics are the areas of medicine closely related in certain segments, and is the organization of common educational and professional programs of great importance for the improvement and better interconnection of doctors and medical staff. I want a lot of success in work and a pleasant stay in Sarajevo to all participants, “Maksic said.
The symposium opening ceremony also attended the Hospital Minister Hasanović, that knowledge and skills are crucial in the proper preservation of mothers and newborns, and that such scientific conferences are the most effective way to connect the proficiency and the exchange of labor.

Fatima Gavrankapetanović Smailbegović thanked participants in a significant response and support in the realization of this essential scientific and professional event, and officially opened the II scientific symposium.
– This is an opportunity to develop knowledge, experiences and ideas, and further strengthen the cooperation between the branches of medicine that are essential for the earliest phases of human life, from the intrauterine period to early childhood. I especially thank all the lecturers who will share with us the rich knowledge and experience – said Gavrankapetanović Smailbegović.
This year’s symposium gathered more than 300 participants, which in addition to professional lectures within the workshops, have the opportunity to exercise and practical skills, the KCUS said.
