Santa Clauses paraded through Mostar on bicycles

The start and end of the bicycle race was in front of the Croatian Home of Herceg Stjepan (HDHS) in Kosača, and a circuit was cycled around the entire city with a length of about 15 kilometers.

President of the “Hercegovina Bike” Association, Toni Zorić, said that Santa Claus, as in previous years, distributed sweets and special gifts to the youngest citizens of Mostar who found themselves on the streets.

– The weather was very nice for us, the atmosphere was excellent, again a very large number of cyclists and children gathered, so we are happy that we couldn’t be happier. From year to year, the number of participants is increasing, so I think that this bicycle race surpassed last year’s, and I would like to point out that I am especially happy that we have a large number of children – said Zorić.

The idea of the Santa Claus bike ride was born 13 years ago.

– Back then in Mostar we didn’t really have such organized events and it wasn’t really such a nice atmosphere, to put it that way, and our main goal then and now is to contribute to the holiday spirit of Mostar with this event and bring holiday joy to children and the youngest. 13 years ago, we started with only about 20 participants, and last year there were about 200 – emphasized Zorić.

The bike ride started from Rondo towards Nikola Šubić Zrinski’s Šetalis to Španski trg, then Bulevar, across Lučki most and Maršala Tito street, passing by Musala, Hotel Ero, Customs bridge and Railway station. The drive continued towards Zalik, over the new bridge to the top of Avenija, then down Kralja Tomislava Street to Strelčevina and back to Rondo.

The employees of the MUP HNK took care of the safety of all cyclists.
