Their volunteers, caregivers, geronto-housewives and field teams are on the ground every day, providing support to those who need help the most – regardless of weather conditions, distance or obstacles on the way.
In winter conditions, often on impassable roads, caregivers and geronto-homemakers of the FBiH Red Cross visit their beneficiaries, clean the snow in front of their homes, light a fire, prepare meals and provide them with a sense of security and warmth. Their commitment knows no obstacles.
– It is also important to point out that the Red Cross kitchens have been working non-stop since the weather. Help reached all our users who needed it, even though it seemed impossible at first. At the same time, our teams in the temporary reception centers in Sarajevo and the Una-Sana Canton, Blažuj and Lipa were on the ground from the very beginning of the rainfall and worked to ensure the smooth functioning of the camps. Together with the users, they cleaned the snow and made sure that everyone received the necessary services, building a sense of solidarity and mutual support through joint work – Fena from the FBiH Red Cross reports.
In flood-affected areas such as Mostar, Blagaj, Mali polje and the source of Bunica, FBiH Red Cross teams visited households, assessed needs and distributed boots and raincoats to ease the population’s first days after the disaster.
In these circumstances, the Red Cross is often the only support for those who are in the most difficult situations. It is these, seemingly small, but extremely significant steps, that testify that true humanity always finds a way.
