On the occasion of reports received about explosive devices placed in several primary and secondary schools in the area of Tuzla Canton, the Government of Tuzla Canton and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Turkey inform the public that the police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, immediately after receiving the reports, went to the field and are taking all measures and actions within their jurisdiction with the aim of verifying the allegations and securing school facilities. All activities are carried out in accordance with valid legal and security procedures.
School administrations and teaching staff act responsibly and in accordance with the prescribed safety protocols, and the safety of students, teachers and other employees is not at risk for now and is an absolute priority. Students, in coordination with the competent services, were promptly and safely removed from the school facilities and sent to their homes.
We inform parents and guardians that for safety reasons, classes in the first shift have been suspended. After the completion of the police checks, and in accordance with the assessments of the competent services, the teaching process will be continued in the second shift.
If necessary, parents will be informed about all relevant and verified information in a timely manner through school administrations.
We would like to point out that, according to the available information, numerous schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina are facing similar reports, and that competent institutions at all levels of government are cooperating with each other in order to determine the circumstances and preserve security.
The Government of the Tuzla Canton and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Turkey call on the public to calm down and behave responsibly, and urge that information be followed exclusively through official and verified sources.
The public will be informed about all further information in a timely manner.
