House prices in Romania continued to rise this year, with an average increase of 14 percent nationally, with Craiova in the southwest of the country topping the chart for the first time, with property prices rising by 21 percent.
The increase in apartment prices pushed Craiova to fourth place on the list of the most expensive cities in Romania, with an average asking price of 2,095 euros per usable square meter.
Bucharest also recorded a significant increase in prices, and in the capital of Romania, real estate prices increased by around 17 percent on average, which is the second highest increase recorded at the national level, after Craiova.
Although the average price of apartments in Bucharest is almost 2,180 euros per usable square meter, there are still large price differences between the cheapest and most expensive neighborhoods.
Apartments in the Bucharest neighborhood of Ferentari remain the most affordable, with buyers paying less than 1,100 euros per usable square meter, while houses located in the Aviatorilor area approach the threshold of 5,000 euros per square meter.
Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania is one of the most expensive cities in Romania when it comes to real estate prices, and in that city, a usable square meter of an apartment costs 3,207 euros on average.
Ploesti took the last place in the table that shows the growth of real estate prices in Romania, and after the price increase in that city by 14 percent, the square meter of the useful area of an apartment costs an average of 1,333 euros, reports Tanjug.
