The police in Turkey conducted a large-scale “OnlyFans” operation, in which numerous influencers were targeted.
As reported, the operation was launched against 25 people and two companies that published sexually explicit posts for a fee on the OnlyFans platform as well as Telegram, which are banned in Turkey.
As part of the operation, the suspects’ property worth approximately six million euros was confiscated. As part of the Istanbul-based operation, proceedings were launched against suspects in Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Edremit, Golcuk and Samsun.
The OnlyFans platform was blocked in Turkey on June 7, 2023 by court order of the First Misdemeanor Court in Istanbul, with the explanation that it contains content that is incompatible with public morality and the Turkish family structure.
However, it was discovered that the platform was accessed through VPNs despite its ban in Turkey. The suspects were also found to have posted sexually explicit posts on their publicly available social media pages to encourage access to the platform.
It was found that these individuals offered to share private content in exchange for a fee, in order to get more interaction with the images and videos they shared. They also stated that this content can be accessed through OnlyFans or private channels like Telegram.
Also, the police found that these people shared obscene content on publicly available platforms and invested the income they earned from those posts in movable/immovable property, bitcoin, gold or by opening fixed deposit accounts in banks.
Among other things, the police issued warrants as part of the investigation, and the list contained the names of numerous Turkish influencers, including Merve Taskin, Gizem Bagdacicek, Burcin Erol and Serpil Cansiz. The police stated that they are abroad.
