All fourteen Hajduk fans pleaded guilty and were sentenced to three months in prison before the Municipal Court in Živinice for the recent attack on members of the Crvena zvezda fan group, but they could soon be released from custody after each individual pays about 4,500 euros to buy off the fine.
A week of negotiations with the prosecutor’s office
As lawyer Mirko Lekić confirmed for Hina, in the past week the legal team of members of Torcida negotiated with members of the Tuzla County Prosecutor’s Office in order to reach a settlement that would include a guilty plea on the condition that they be sentenced to three months in prison. On Monday, a hearing was held before the competent Municipal Court in Živinice, where the agreement was confirmed.
“The court accepted that agreement. It sentenced them to three months in prison. They will be credited with the time they spent in custody,” Lekić told Hina.
Attack near Tuzla, 14 in custody
Members of Torcida attacked Crvena zvezda fans on January 24 near Tuzla Airport, in which several people were injured, including a member of the police. At that time, more than 90 participants in the riots were detained, and 14 of them were kept in custody. Eleven of them reside in Croatia, three in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Lawyer Lekić explained that the lawyers will immediately after receiving the written verdict of the Municipal Court initiate a request to redeem the sentence, which is possible in Bosnia and Herzegovina if the sentence is up to one year in prison.
“After the court approves it, the fine is about 150 marks, about 75 euros, for one day and when they pay that amount they can be released,” said lawyer Lekić.
Given that they have already spent a month in custody, each member of Torcida will have to pay around 4,500 euros in order to be released.
