Asian-Pacific markets traded mixed while investors estimated a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Trump and XI talked on Thursday and agreed that the US and China officials would soon meet to continue negotiations with the aim of completing the current trade war.

The call, which Trump described as “very good,” for about 90 minutes, focusing “almost entirely” on the store and brought a “very positive conclusion for both countries,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 reference index increased by 0.37%, and topix by 0.43%. South Korean Kospas continued growth and jumped by 1.49%, and a coil with a small market capitalization added 0.8%.

Australian S & P / ASX 200 was lower by 0.19%. Hong Kong Hang Seng Index fell by 0.21%, while Chinese CSI 300 dropped by 0.12%.

Indian Nifty 50 increased by 0.24% after the central bank and the country significantly reduced the reference interest rate from 6 to 5.5%. This is also the third consecutive reduction rate from February and is below the median estimation of 5.75% in the Reuters survey, SEEbiz reports.

“The U.S. Agreement and China demands, and the recent telephone call between Trump and Xija shows that both countries have economic ‘thresholds, said Luke Yeaman, the main economist and the head of the global economy and market in Commonwealth Bank.

Although the call removes some serious negative scenarios, tension will remain high and still possible escalation outbursts, written by Yeaman in a note published on Friday. “In the long run, both countries will continue to advocate for greater economic independence.”
