According to the artist’s alone, Art Connects Women is a global initiative whose goals are the promotion of women’s creativity and integration of artists in the cultural and artistic sector. 112 artists, of a kind of ambassador from 112 countries, participated in the exhibition.
The four-day program included an outdoor exhibition in the DIFC Gate Village District, the cultural tour of Abu Dhabija, Conference and the ceremonial evening of the Award of the UNESCO and supporting numerous sponsors. The program is organized by the ZEEARTS Gallery from Dubai, whose founder is Zaahirah Muthy.
The artist participated in the work called “Ama”, inspired by the Japanese tradition of women divers on pearls. Although the tradition of diving and gathering for pearls also present in the legacy of the United Arab Emirates, there divers were mostly men.
Using the motive of a female act, the artist puts an emphasis on a woman who finds his place in society with his own work and courage, conceptually connecting both traditions.
Lee Jerlagić’s participation contributes to the presence of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the international art scene and opens opportunities for future cooperation in the field of culture and art.
