The Italian Energy Company is invested $ 10 billion in gas fields in the territorial waters of Indonesia, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said.
Eni, founded in 1953. year, operates in more than 70 countries around the world. According to their official website, the company produces about 5.18 billion cubic meters of gas in Indonesia a year.
According to the report of the Antar news agency, Minister Lahadalia said that the ENI plans to invest the said amount in the East Kalimantan region.
“Production should start in 2027. year, and the planned investment of the Croatian Podmantan will be focused on the development of underwater gas fields in the area of the Makasar passage, especially in the blocks of Jangkrik and Merakes,” Lahadalia explained.
The Makasar pass connects Javanese with the celebra sea, and is located between the island of Borneo and Celebes.
Production in these neighboring fields is expected to improve gas supply and satisfy both domestic and export demand.
Eni in its website provides the development of the Merakes Gas field and points out that so far Indonesia has delivered 1.86 billion cubic meters of liquefied gas (LNG).
