We present to you a nineteen-year-old girl from Zenica, who makes our local community better and more beautiful with her work and dedication.
Namely, almost everyone who works in the non-governmental sector knows her, while others know her character and work in the local community a little less.
She tries to help everyone every day, if nothing else, she will at least make someone smile and cheer up, which sometimes means more than material help.
We are talking about Ajša Luković, and below we bring you an interview with this versatile woman from Zenica conducted by Salih Dizdarević, a volunteer of the Youth Organization “REaktiv” Zenica.
To begin with, can you introduce yourself?
Ajša Luković, full-time student at the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica.
You volunteer in numerous organizations, can you name them?
Yes, that’s right. I volunteer in organizations: the Red Cross of the City of Zenica, the Network of Councils/Council of Students of BiH and the Bridges of Friendship Association.
What is the highest position in those organizations that you have achieved?
In the Red Cross, I am the president of the Youth Presidency of the CK ZDK, in mreVUK FBiH vice-president, mreVUK ZDK president and currently I am a trainer in mreSVUBH.
What are your expectations from young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
I have high hopes for the young people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I expect them to resist the washed-up opinions of older people and to learn to critically observe the world around them, and the key to all that is exclusively education, volunteering and social engagement.
Do you help your local community and in what way?
If I get the chance, I help. This was mostly reflected through the spring cleaning of the settlement, and the recognition of social cases within it.
What is the biggest thing you have done for your local community?
Hmm, interesting question. Although I don’t like to highlight my works, I will say that the biggest thing I did for my local community was when I donated about 100 books of reading material to the school library in the local elementary school (which I also attended). After all, a book is a man’s best friend.
What is your opinion about the government in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
A very irritating question (laughs). I believe that our government needs as many young, up-to-date and motivated people as possible. The current government has deeply entrenched itself, or rather, “seated itself”, and they are not aiming for any constructive changes that would bring everyone a better position and prosperity.
What are your goals for the coming year?
My personal goals for the upcoming year are to successfully finish my first year of university, to be smiling as much as possible and to be an inspiration to as many of my peers as possible, but maybe to older ones as well.
Describe for us one day of your year?
I will describe one day from the Igman Youth Peace Camp organized by the organization “Progres” with the support of the German THW. Given that it rained for four days during the five-day camp, the trip to Sarajevo took place in sunny weather. About 25 people of all religions walked together and got to know places of worship, landmarks and together spread the story of how young people value and respect each other regardless of their name. During the return to Igman and the final evaluation of the five-day gathering, it was concluded that we must not forget what happened, because if we forget, it would happen again, but that we must fight together for our better today and tomorrow.
Can you order something for young people in BIH?
I would say to young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, never give up on your goals, look for potential in yourself, in your environment and in your homeland. We are the ones who can improve the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and know that the only loser is the one who gives up. Greetings!
