The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade announced that early this morning, BiH citizen MA (24) tried to kill a police officer at the Savski Venac police station with a knife.
The public prosecutor on duty conducted an on-site investigation at the Savski Venac Police Station, where last night around four o’clock a girl tried to kill police officer V. V with a knife, who, after admonition and warning, fired several bullets from his service weapon into the air and into the floor, one of which hit the suspect in the leg.
“The suspect was hospitalized at the Military Medical Academy for surgery, after which she will be detained for up to 48 hours due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that she committed the criminal offense of attempted murder,” the prosecution says.
Around four in the morning, the suspect came to the entrance of the Savski venac police station and started an argument with the police officer, demanding that “the police go to Ćaciland”.
“Seeing that the girl had a knife with her, the police officer asked for support, and when they came from the duty station, he went towards MA with a baton, who tried to stab him with a knife. VV escaped and ran out of the station. However, MA followed him with a knife in hand, after which the police officer took out his service pistol and, after admonition and warning, fired several bullets into the air and into the floor, one of which hit the suspect in the leg”, the announcement states.
It is added that the VV police officer was diagnosed with minor physical injuries at the health facility and he was dismissed from the health facility.
“MA was found to have serious physical injuries in the form of a gunshot wound to the upper leg and will undergo an operation. After the checks, it was determined that MA entered Serbia on September 29 and that she has no registered residence,” the statement said.
The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office points out that the first results of the investigation indicate that the police officer acted in accordance with the law in everything.
