Shares on European stock markets ended trading in the red on Friday, extending the previous day’s decline caused by losses from companies in the field of artificial intelligence.
The pan-European STOXX 600 fell 0.7 percent, with most sectors and major bourses closing the session in negative territory. The French CAC 40 weakened by 0.2 percent, the German DAX by about 0.8 percent, the Italian FTSE MIB by 0.4 percent, while the London FTSE 100 recorded a decline of about 0.6 percent, reports CNBC.
Among companies, shares of British online real estate trading platform Rightmove sank 12.5 percent after the company forecast weaker profits due to heavy investments in artificial intelligence.
In contrast, British broadcaster ITV jumped 16.6 percent after it confirmed it was in talks with Comcast about a potential sale of its television business in a deal worth 1.6 billion pounds (1.8 billion euros).
Shares in Novo Nordisk, which cut growth estimates earlier in the week, fell 5.1 percent after a deal was reached with US President Donald Trump to lower the price of weight-loss drugs.
