The Japanese Reference Index of Nikkei 225 increased by 1.19% to another new record maximum second day in a row, while the bank of Japan retained its reference interest rate stable to 0.5%, in line with the forecast of the Reuters’ Economist.
The decision on retention rate comes at the moment when the Japanese core inflation rate fell to the lowest level from November 2024, by which is 2.7% for August, which is the third month in a row.
Data on the fundamental inflation – which exclude fresh food prices – they were in line with 2.7% of how much economists were expected to survey Reuters. Total inflation in the country also fell to 2.7%, with 3.1% in July and marked the new lowest level since November 2024.
“The decision of the bank of Japan to keep stable interest rates emphasize its cautious attitude in the middle of the slowdown in inflation and global uncertainty – giving priority of stability over the premature tension,” said Hiroaki Amemiya, director of investment in Capital Group. “By preserving the possibility of politics, the battle signals its readiness to respond to external volatility, while continuing to assess the strength of the Japanese economic recovery.”
“The BOJ strategy supports the early phases of the Reflation cycle, not a turn-up of the course,” Amemiya added.
