The program was attended by 64 participants who are pedagogues and teachers according to their basic professional qualifications, and after completing the one-year non-cyclical study program, they obtained qualifications for work in preschool education.
With this, the Canton of Sarajevo strengthens its personnel capacities for preschool upbringing and education, since the participants are already employed in preschool institutions, and with the program they strengthened their competences for work in that sector.
In the area of ​​Sarajevo Canton, according to the Minister of Education Naida Hota-Muminović, there is currently more than 48 percent of children involved in preschool education. The goal of the KS Government from 2019 is 95 percent.
Respecting the global guidelines of UNICEF’s international standards, they increased the number of public preschool institutions, at Ju Djeca Sarajevo, but also private preschool institutions.
– As part of the program “Requalification for work in preschool upbringing and education”, pedagogues, educators, professors went through a very serious process of registration of those kindergartens, checks and in the end, they became part of the system regarding professional development of staff, checking the overall quality of work – Muminović said in a statement to the media.
The Canton of Sarajevo, as well as the states of the region in general, and beyond, are facing a major challenge, the lack of staff, especially in the education sector.
– Therefore, we had the need to create a good program in cooperation with the Faculty of Pedagogy, which will enable further academic education for teachers, classroom teachers and pedagogues. They have completed their education and we have thereby increased the number of people who can apply for kindergarten teacher positions – concluded Hota Muminović.
The project was realized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of the Canton of Sarajevo and the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education of the Canton of Sarajevo.
