The judge for preliminary proceedings of the Kalesija Municipal Court accepted the proposal of the prosecuting prosecutor and ordered a one-month detention for Arnel Smajlović (24) from Kalesija due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that he committed the crime of blackmail in connection with the crime from Article 73 of the Law on Weapons and Ammunition of the TK. Also, the court ordered prohibitory measures against his wife AS (21), who is suspected of having committed the crime of blackmail as an accomplice with her husband.
˝There is a well-founded suspicion that the Smajlović spouses in the period from March 2025 to March 2026 asked a female person to hand over a certain amount of money to them using threats and blackmail. The injured party, fearing that they would carry out their threats, handed over certain amounts of money to the suspects every month, and in this way, over a period of one year, they obtained an illegal benefit in the amount of about 10,500 KM, and damaged this woman for the same amount, said the spokesman of the TK Prosecutor’s Office, Admir Arnautović.
On March 13, 2026, on the order of the Prosecutor’s Office and the order of the Kalesija Municipal Court, members of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey conducted a search of Arnel Smajlović’s family home in Gornji Rainci near Kalesija, during which several firearms and a large amount of ammunition of various calibers were found, for which the suspect did not have the authorization of the competent police department.
After the search, the suspects were deprived of their liberty, the criminal investigation was carried out and they were handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office with a report on the crime committed.
The acting prosecutor ordered the investigation and interrogated the suspects.
