By the decision of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the criminal case against the accused Ahmed Kastrata, against whom criminal proceedings are being conducted before the Cantonal Court in Tuzla for the criminal offense of murdering Saša Vilušić, the appeal of the defendant’s defense attorney was accepted and the decision of the Cantonal Court in Tuzla of 09.02.2026 was annulled. year, by which the accused’s detention was extended for two months, and at the same time it was decided to terminate the accused’s detention.
Upon receipt of the aforementioned decision of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Cantonal Court in Tuzla issued an order to the competent Penitentiary Institution to immediately release the accused Kastrati.

The Supreme Court of FBiH: Due to the expiration of the legal term, the custody of the accused was terminated
The Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) terminated the custody of the accused Ahmed Kastrata, in the criminal case against that accused before the Cantonal Court in Tuzla, for the criminal offense of murder.
˝At the time of the decision of the Supreme Court of FBiH number 03 0 K 025933 26 Kž 13 of 23.02.2026. year, there is no legal basis for the further detention of the accused in custody, which does not exclude the re-ordering of custody if the conditions prescribed in Article 146, paragraph 1 of the Law on Criminal Procedure of the FBiH exist. Confirmation of the indictment or the passing of an invalid decision against a certain person does not mean that that person is really responsible for committing a criminal act. According to the principle of the presumption of innocence, everyone is considered innocent of a criminal offense until a final verdict establishes his guilt, it was announced from Supreme Court of FBiH.
We remind you that the Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton charges Ahmed Kastrati with the murder of Saša Vilušić in Tuzla. According to the prosecution, he is accused of hitting Vilušić in the head with a closed fist on June 21 last year, around 1:30 a.m. in a restaurant in Tuzla. Vilušić later died of his injuries on July 10 at the University Clinical Center in Tuzla.
