The police in Osijek detained a 46-year-old child psychiatrist on suspicion of having committed a number of serious crimes over the years, including sexual abuse of minors and facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs, writes index.hr. After the completion of the criminal investigation, the suspect, along with the filing of a criminal report, was taken to the custody supervisor, the police said.
According to the results of the investigation, it is suspected that in the period from 2016 to 2019, the suspect abused his professional position and the trust of patients while working in a health facility in the area of Osijek. The police allege that four of his patients, who were minors at the time, exposed themselves to inappropriate verbal behavior, impermissible physical contact, and it is suspected that he gave them drugs to use.
The investigation additionally established that in the period from 2018 to 2023, the suspect also gave narcotic drugs to adults from his environment – a woman and a man, both currently 35 years old.
As part of the investigation, and based on the order of the County Court in Osijek, police officers searched the family home, the doctor’s office and the vehicle used by the suspect. During the searches, two computers, a mobile phone, and a large amount of different types of narcotics were found and temporarily confiscated.
Among the confiscated items are 33 packets of marijuana with a total weight of 213.9 grams, 12 tablets of MDMA, hashish, additional quantities of MDMA in lumps, amphetamine, as well as a syringe with about 0.5 milliliters of liquid whose composition is being determined.
After the completion of the criminal investigation, the suspected healthcare worker was arrested and handed over to the competent judicial authorities with a criminal complaint on suspicion of committing criminal acts of violation of the rights of a child, lewd acts, enabling the consumption of drugs and unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs.
The investigation in this case continues.
