The body of a 65-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds was found in Vienna’s Penzing district late Monday afternoon. A passer-by discovered the lifeless body at the Baumgarten cemetery around 5:30 p.m. The police arrested a 14-year-old girl on suspicion of murder, writes Heute.
The police and emergency services immediately arrived at the scene, but it was too late for the 65-year-old woman. “The resuscitation attempt was unsuccessful,” police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger told APA at the scene. An investigation was immediately launched.
A teenage girl who lives nearby was arrested
The investigation soon led the investigators of the Provincial Criminal Office to a 14-year-old girl who became suspicious to the police because of her behavior. The girl lives in the immediate vicinity of the cemetery, where the woman is believed to have been killed. The victim is believed to have been chosen at random.
The teenager was arrested at her home address and is currently in custody. There, the investigators seized a knife, which is suspected to be the weapon used in the crime, as well as clothes linked to the murder. She is considered the main suspect, but it is not yet known whether she has been questioned.
The police have not yet released details about the identity of the victim and the suspect. The cemetery was closed to the public until 9 p.m., and the area was secured by a strong police force. The investigative team worked on the field until late at night, and the investigation is in full swing. The presumption of innocence applies to the 14-year-old suspect, Index.hr writes.
