Galić was supposed to be arrested by officers of SIPA, the police agency where he was appointed deputy director in March 2023.

On August 19, the County Court in Split decided that Galić would not be extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina and refused to order him into custody for the purpose of extradition to Bosnia and Herzegovina based on the red Interpol warrant. Thus, Galić has been moving around Croatian territory as a free man for half a year.
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia ruled that the County Court in Split violated the law when, by refusing to extradite SIPA Deputy Director Zoran Galić, it refused to sentence him to pretrial detention. However, the decision did not change.
After fleeing to Croatia, Galić first requested sick leave from SIPA, and then, through his lawyer, submitted a request to be relieved of his duties as deputy director of this agency before the end of his mandate, stating that he had fulfilled the conditions for retirement.
Galić was relieved of his duties, and by the conclusion of the BiH Council of Ministers, his right to severance pay or some other benefits was denied, because he is a fugitive wanted by the prosecuting authorities.
Galić is not the first, and certainly not the last, in a series of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who used the benefit of dual citizenship and a Croatian passport to cross the border and become inaccessible to Bosnia and Herzegovina. judiciary.
It is a well-guarded mechanism for the protection of legitimate representatives and a proven pattern of behavior of HDZ cadres, from Ante Jelavić to Galić. Galić came to this position, like all the previous ones, at the will of HDZ BiH. However, the self-proclaimed “carriers of European values” have been silent about this escape all these months.
