It is Pliva, which is considered one of the largest sources of drinking water in Europe, and originates from three karst springs in the village of Pljeva near Šipovo.
We visited all three springs of Pliva and saw why this place is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful natural corners in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The two springs are about 300 meters from each other, and on them the Pliva flows between rocks covered with moss, creating rapids and waterfalls. The third spring, which can also be reached on foot, is different from the first two – it has clear, cold water gushing out of a large rock.
The strong roar of the river, which accompanies every step along the springs, creates a special experience and completely “draws” the visitor into peace, forcing him to forget about everything else except the power and beauty of nature.
Well-maintained paths in the area of the spring allow visitors to enjoy the view of the Pliva flowing through the greenery, as well as the clean air and freshness of the water.

Pliva is formed by the joining of three karst springs, and after 33 kilometers of its course, it ends in Jajce, where it flows into Vrbas via an impressive waterfall in the very center of the city, one of the most recognizable symbols of Jajce.
The water in Pliva is known for its exceptional purity and constant temperature of eight to 10 degrees Celsius throughout the year, which is evidence of its underground origin and its journey through deep karst layers.
After the three sources merge, Pliva enters its calmer flow, and this area is one of the most famous locations in the region for fly fishing, where anglers from all over the world catch trout and grayling.
Near the spring there is a rest area, hiking and cycling trails, while along the river you can also see watermills. In them you can still buy flour of different grains, which gives this place additional authenticity and reminds us of the traditions of this region. In several restaurants, visitors can enjoy the traditional dishes of this area, as well as the famous fish specialties.
The combination of clear water, forest trails, silence and natural surroundings makes the springs of Pliva near Šipovo a place that cannot be easily described, it simply has to be experienced live.
