The president of the Unified Union of Civil Servants and Employees of the Judiciary, Vesna Kojić, said that the union stands by the previously stated demands, among which the priority issue is the increase of compensation for civil servants and employees in the judiciary.
According to her, certain offers were presented at the meetings with representatives of the Government of the Croatian National Union, but the union did not accept them because it believes that they do not include all employees of the judiciary.
– We rejected the offered solutions because they only apply to part of the employees. We want to achieve a solution that will be valid for all employees of the judiciary – said Kojić.
She added that the union remains open to continuing the dialogue and expects new proposals from the Government.
She also warned about the consequences of the strike for the functioning of judicial institutions, stating that there has already been a halt in the work of court offices, processing cases and providing certain services to citizens.
– We are already experiencing difficulties in work due to the large number of cases and the lack of employees. The warning strike lasts only five days, and the consequences in the case of a general strike would be much more serious – she pointed out.
Kojić assessed that it is necessary to systematically resolve the status of civil servants and employees in the judiciary, not only in the HNK but also at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As part of the strike, a protest walk through the streets of Mostar was held on Friday, which was joined by employees of judicial institutions from Čapljina and Čitluk, as well as union representatives from Tuzla Canton.
The President of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of the Judiciary of Tuzla Canton, Nedžad Vrbić, expressed his support for his colleagues from HNŽ, reminding that the employees of the judiciary in Tuzla Canton previously held a multi-month general strike due to similar demands.
He said that after the negotiations with the Government of Tuzla Canton, steps were taken to improve the status of employees, including the formation of a working group for drafting regulations that would enable an increase in compensation for individual jobs in the judiciary.
Vrbić called on the cantonal governments in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to find solutions through dialogue with the trade unions to improve the financial position of employees in the judiciary until the adoption of permanent legal solutions at the federal level.
