The commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the genocide in and around Srebrenica in July 1995 will be held from July 1 to 3, 2025 and will include a multi-day interdisciplinary international conference, as well as a series of scientific and artistic contents that will contribute to the preservation of memory and education about the genocide.
Activities on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement will be realized in the period from November 21 to 25, 2025, and will also include a number of scientific and artistic contents.
In order to organize and realize a series of activities, a Coordination Committee was formed, which consists of the chairman, the rector of the University of Sarajevo, department vice-chancellors, and:
• Prof. Ph.D. Sead Turčalo, Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences
• Dr. sci. Muamer Džananović, director of the Institute for Research on Crimes Against Humanity and International Law
• Prof. Ph.D. Zinka Grbo, Dean of the Faculty of Law
• Dr. sci. Sedad Bešlija, director of the Institute of History
• Prof. Ph.D. Jasmin Ahić, Dean of the Faculty of Criminology, Criminology and Security Studies
• Prof. Adnan Busuladžić, acting dean of the Faculty of Philosophy
• Prof. M.Sc. Faruk Lončarević, dean of the Academy of Performing Arts
• Prof. Ph.D. Dubravka Pozderac-Lejlić, dean of the Academy of Fine Arts
The aim of these activities is, through scientific and artistic engagement, to ensure the permanent memory of the victims of genocide, to promote the universal values of peace, justice and human rights.
The University of Sarajevo, as the leading higher education institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, strives with these activities to contribute to the preservation of the memory of the victims of genocide, as well as to the understanding of the importance of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond, and to the education and promotion of the universal values of justice, peace and human rights.
