Several items on the agenda were proposed, and as the last one – the Draft Law on the Gas Pipeline “Southern Interconnection of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia”.
This law was proposed at the initiative of a group of delegates in an identical text as it was already approved by the House of Representatives at the session held in the first half of last month. During the parliamentary debate at the time, advocates emphasized that the law greatly contributes to energy independence, that is, to reducing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s dependence on gas supplies from Russia, as it foresees another flow of gas to Bosnia and Herzegovina, this time from the West.
More precisely, the construction of a gas pipeline between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, connected to the liquefied gas (LNG) terminal on the Croatian island of Krk, and therefore also to European gas pipelines, is planned. From the direction of Croatia, the gas pipeline would pass through western Herzegovina to central Bosnia and Herzegovina. The intended holder of the project is the public company BH-Gas. In order for the project to be realized, it is necessary that the law on southern interconnection be approved in exactly the same text by both houses in the Federal Parliament.
In the House of Representatives, when it was on the agenda and was accepted by a majority of votes at the said session from the first half of last month, the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a member of the parliamentary majority, voted against and its cadre Mladen Bošković resented the final outcome by saying that this party was outvoted. .
Among the announced agenda items for today’s session of the House of Peoples is the election of judges of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
