The first institutional gathering of Bosniak councils and organizations was attended by members, representatives of Bosniak councils from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, the United States of America and Canada, and the associated representative of the Bosniak community in the Consultative Council for Communities from Kosovo.
The first president of the Mother Society of Bosniak Councils, Suljo Mustafić, who is also the president of the Bosniak Council in Montenegro, pointed out that this is the first gathering of relevant Bosniak organizations in modern history, because the Office includes representatives of established Bosniak organizations from all countries of the former Yugoslavia, the USA and Canada, not individuals, as was the case in the previous thirty years.
Emir Zlatar was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Office.
The mother society will deal with the improvement, harmonization and promotion of fundamental identity issues of the Bosniak people in the fields of Bosnian language and literature, history, geography, music and visual arts, educational processes, cultural-historical and natural heritage, scientific and research projects of importance for Bosniaks.
The task of the Office will also be to initiate the establishment of the mother society of Bosniaks – Matica Bosniaks, lexicographic institutions and other necessary institutions with public powers, the position and status of the Bosniak people, and cooperation with representatives of all levels of government in the states of the region.
It was established that in Bosnia and Herzegovina there is no public institution of Bosniak provenance with any public authority, which represents an exceptional problem for the improvement and promotion of Bosniak identity issues.
It was stated that the establishment of the Office created, for the first time, the perspective and possibility for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, through its institutions and institutions, to transparently and clearly support the programs and projects of Bosniak councils in all states where they exist, which was not the case in previous decades.
It was pointed out that the Mother Society of Bosniak Councils firmly stands on the point of respect for the international world order, respecting the sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of all states that were created by the dissolution of the SFRY and supporting the European perspective of the region.
Also, activity and work will be focused on identity issues of Bosniaks. In the social and political context, the office will advocate within its countries for equality, freedom and equal rights of all citizens, regardless of linguistic, ethnic, religious and other differences, and the establishment of all our countries on the foundations of European democratic values.
It was emphasized that Bosniaks in their history have always been a factor of stability and integration, and in this sense they promoted societies of common values, based on anti-fascism, respect for the other and different, the construction of a secular and democratic state and the realization of full human rights and freedoms of every person.
The Office believes that, unfortunately, Bosniaks did not encounter the same principles in their history, so they were exposed to systematic persecutions, crimes, the demolition of their cultural monuments and finally genocide, which were carried out by criminal regimes through the authorities in those countries.
The mother society of Bosniak councils will clearly separate the criminal policies carried out by the institutions of the system from the total being of each of the peoples with whom Bosniaks have lived together for centuries. Generalizations and labeling of any people as criminals are unacceptable. We clearly distinguish, as they state, aggressive and criminal policies from the totality of the cultural being and identity of any nation.
In addition, the Parent Company will introduce its programs to the authorities in the institutions of all countries of the region, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Special attention will be paid to meetings with Bosniak political organizations and their representatives, in order to clearly define the improvement, harmonization and realization of Bosniak identity issues.
In its activities, the mother society will clearly show that our countries where they live should be organized on the basis of civil principles, with full respect for the realization of the identity rights of each people, whether they are majority or minority in a given country, announced the VKBI.
