It is discussed about the cooperation between the Ministry and the Faculty of Forestry with an emphasis on its institutionalization in the processes of declaration and governance of protected areas in the Federation of BiH.
– One example of already established cooperation is the project of declaring Mount Prenj Protected Area. Namely, a team of experts works on the project ‘Professional Running Mount Prenj Protected Area’ which in cooperation is realized by the Faculty of Forestry and the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the city of Cavic and UNDP in order to increase the surface of protected areas in The Federation of BiH and strengthening support for the protection of biological and landscape diversity. Today we opened new topics important for further projects, which we need to be helpful for the professional and adequate declaration and management of our protected areas – said Pozder.
During the meeting, the important role of the academic community in nature protection was emphasized, and the need for scientifically based approaches in decision-making concerning the preservation of forest ecosystems and biodiversity.
Representatives of the Faculty Faculty presented projects and research that can contribute to improving environmental protection policies, while the Minister expressed readiness to strengthen the partnership between the competent institutions and the academic community.
In addition to the institutionalization of cooperation, on the establishment of new protected areas, the topics were also considered, including the strengthening of the importance of sustainable natural resource management, the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism reported to the FBiH Government Office for public relations.
