The Sarajevo Winter flag was raised on Susan Sontag Square in the presence of athletes, artists, and cultural workers, such as the actress of the NPS drama ensemble Mona Muratović, the soloist of the NPS Opera Hana Salihović.
Great Britain’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Julian Reilly, also attended that ceremony as a sign of support for the winter culture festival.
The students of the High School of Music performed part of Vivaldi’s composition “Winter”, conducted by Tijana Vignjević.
The director of Sarajevo Winter, Ibrahim Spahić, said that the whole story of Sarajevo Winter is about building relationships between the audience, artists and the media.
– Only thanks to you, this Festival celebrated its 40th birthday – Spahić said.
He invited everyone to come and celebrate together the 40th birthday of Sarajevo Winter Fest, to come to their dear places, places that remind them of the 80s.
– We invite you to “Dialogue on the Street” in preparation for the XL Sarajevo Winter and the 2025 Culture Olympics and with artists and fellow citizens to make our garden on the continent and Europe and the world a better place for a dignified life in peace and freedom – Spahić said.
The ceremony continued at the City Market, the Olympia Museum, the Austrian House.
During the 1,793 festival days, 4,705 performances, concerts, exhibitions, theater performances, films, meetings of writers and intellectuals, architects and scientific and cultural creators were performed in front of an audience of millions, with the participation of 45,700 participants from BiH and the world.
Under the name of Sarajevo Winter Fest, programs have been held and are being held non-stop since the founding of the Festival program in the most important institutions and stages of cities on all continents.
The festival is under the constant patronage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. institutions, UNESCO and the Council of Europe, and the high sponsor of the jubilee 40th SWF and the Sarajevo 2025 Culture Olympiad is Denis Bećirović, a member of the BiH Presidency.
