The director of this institution, Edisa Hendo, emphasizes that with the support, especially of the Ministry of Urban Planning and Spatial Planning of BPK, the renovation of another residential unit for these purposes is nearing completion.
– In the previous year, the competent cantonal ministry provided us with the greatest support in these activities, and almost 50,000 KM was allocated for the renovation of apartments intended for intervention accommodation. The center currently has seven residential units, three of which we have already renovated with the support of the Ministry of Urbanism, two with the help of Ginex, and we need to renovate one apartment and one house in a suburban settlement. At the moment, all the apartments are filled except for the ones that we haven’t adapted yet, that is, the one whose adaptation is in progress and one more apartment – specified Hendo.
She noted that the aforementioned residential units serve for intervention accommodation for a period of up to three months for families at risk, i.e. families who have survived some form of violence and who at that moment have nowhere to stay.
– We also started furnishing the apartment, whose renovation is nearing completion, and in the course of these two weeks it will be fully equipped in order to serve intervention purposes. At the FBIH level, we are unique in that we have our own housing units and can provide intervention accommodation in addition to providing assistance and support in safe houses, which is our obligation under the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence – pointed out the director of the Center for Social Work BPK Goražde
She emphasized that the Center for Social Work BPK, in cooperation with the Coordinating Body for Combating Violence, will continue to work on prevention this year through support programs for families at risk, that is, families that have survived violence.
