Today, students from Serbia officially become candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize for this year. Their candidacy, before the expiration of the deadline, filed a Drama writer Siniša Kovacevic and Lawyer Dijana Stojković. Shortly afterwards, the Nobel Committee confirmed the reception of their nomination.
Student movement, based on the principles of nonviolent resistance in Gandy, has a key role in preserving national identity, to restore the dignity to the citizens of Serbia, stability of the state and establishing a permanent peace in the region. The award of this award would contribute to the faster decline in the last dictatorial regime in Europe and strengthen young people to bravely create their future, promoting peace and nonviolence as fundamental values, the rationale of proposals, Novas reports.
With the consent of Siniša Kovacevic and Dijana Stojković, Portal Radar exclusively publishes the integrated reasoning of the nomination, which of the students of Serbia proposed for the list of potential winners of Nobel Peace Prize.
In the reasoning, Serbia has been under autocratic regime, marked by the extinguishing media, political arrests and murders of dissidents, as well as systemic corruption. The government used all available resources – from the abuse of media and polling stations to the threats of employees and their families – to preserve its power.
In response to these repressive measures, the students rebelled after the tragic collapse of the railway station in Novi Sad, whose collapse was attributed to corruption and inadequate construction. Attempted students to pay tribute to the stradels brutally suffocated, which caused the wave of protest throughout the university. The movement that was created turned into a strong request for justice and liberation of institutions from the hand of government.
The regime responded to the student resistance with brutal repression – students were arrested, beaten, labeled as traitors and foreign mercenaries. However, in spite of violence, protests are other non-violent. Students organized blockages of the Faculty, and their perseverance, solidarity and moral consistency inspired tens of thousands of people to join them and release their fear.
These protests, who gathered hundreds of thousands of citizens, showed an incredible degree of discipline and dignity – after mass gatherings, streets and squares remained impeccably clean, and no act of violence was recorded. However, the price paid for students, who were victims of repression.
Due to many years of fear and unobrodents, Serbia has lost over 600,000 young intellectuals that emigrated in search of a better life. In this context, the Student Movement became key not only for the survival of an European nation, but also to repay the dignity to the citizens and stabilize the region.
Persistence, moral consistency and unshakable faith of students in free and democratic Serbia make them a symbol of the fight for justice and human rights. The Allocation of Nobel Peace Prize would give an additional incentive to this movement, accelerated the end of dictatorship and encouraged young people in Serbia to continue shaping their future through the principles of peace and nonviolence, writes RTV elephant.
