The audience that filled the hall of the National Theater to the last seat, along with numerous dignitaries from the cultural, social and political life of Bosnia and Herzegovina and members of the diplomatic choir, enjoyed a rich repertoire with an abundance of Christmas songs.
The president of SPKD “Prosvjeta” Nedeljko Masleša greeted the attendees, stressing that “Prosvjeta” joins the celebration of this great Christian holiday by organizing the Christmas concert.
– We hope that this festive concert of ours will complete the festive atmosphere. We want this cultural event in its own way to be a contribution to preserving and nurturing the tradition of mutual understanding, appreciation and respect that has always adorned the way of life in these areas – said Masleša.
This is the 15th Christmas concert organized by “Prosvjeta”, and from 2011 until today, 15 different choirs, about 20 ensembles, about 40 soloists, different reciters, a total of about 1,000 performers have performed.
The income from the tickets, which cost a symbolic 10 KM, is intended for Prosvjeta’s scholarship fund.
Apart from the performers from Sarajevo, the “Prosvjetina” chamber choir “Teodor Romanić” and the accordion duo from the Music Academy in Sarajevo, the guest of the concert was, among others, the chamber choir “Odjek” from Požarevac under the artistic direction of professor Ilija Rajković.
