If so, the undeniable proof is American Ambassador Michael J. Murphy and all that he did in the previous year and throughout his mandate.
Territorial integrity, sovereignty, multi-ethnic character, protection of Dayton and the Constitution, stability and peace, are the words and deeds of support for Bosnia and Herzegovina that we witnessed.
Through all actions, Ambassador Murphy provided unreserved support to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite the challenges and burdens and ubiquitous political turmoil, discord and non-cooperation of political actors.
Whether it was corruption, illegal money flows, blocking of strategic projects, the American ambassador marked the culprits by name and surname, and stopped harmful processes such as the Laktas agreement at the beginning of the year, but also strongly promoted useful ones such as the Southern Interconnection at the end of the year.
Due to his exceptional engagement, he received the recognition of the American president, which is awarded to a selected group of career diplomats, who for a long period of time “exemplified their duties on behalf of American citizens”. And this is proof, to all those who doubt, that Ambassador Murphy is on the right track implemented the policy of US commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassador Murphy provided enormous support to the private sector, to the development of digitization, to the improvement of relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina. diaspora, strengthening of local communities, transparency and improvement of the electoral process. Equally passionate, Ambassador Murphy devoted himself to the promotion of positive Bosnia and Herzegovina, the protection and preservation of cultural and historical heritage, the promotion of tourism and natural beauty, from Čajnič, Travnik, Trebinje, Mostar, Tisovica, Teslić, Sanski Most, Bihać, Jajce, Banja Luka to Umoljana and Bjelaja … He recorded all this with his camera, and in that way also showed the beauty of our country.
However, the focus was always on the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whom Ambassador Murphy presented to the whole world as enterprising, smart, hardworking, resilient and full of ideas, and sent a clear message to the authorities “to get out of their way and let them develop the economy”.
Considering all of the above and the fact that the end of his mandate is approaching, in the election of the Vijesti.ba editors, Ambassador Murphy is the “Personality of the Year in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
