Pastor Klečina made a dramatic appeal: For someone, every minute can be precious

Heavy rains in the last two days have caused major problems in the western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The situation is most difficult in Drvar and Bosanski Petrovac, and it is critical in remote villages of the municipalities of Grahovo and Glamoč, Klečina states in the appeal.

According to him, due to impassable roads, ambulances cannot transport patients to cantonal hospitals in Livno and Bihać, which endangers the lives of people who need emergency medical care.

“For someone, every minute can be precious,” warned Klečina.

The biggest problem is remote villages where mostly elderly people live, often without access to electricity and far from municipal centers.
Despite the superhuman efforts of local services and individuals, current resources are not enough to clean the roads and normalize the situation.

“I appeal to the higher levels of government to find a way to send additional machinery and services as soon as possible, such as civil protection, mountain rescue service or even the army, in order to clear traffic communications towards Bihać and Livno and provide access to the affected villages,” Klečina pointed out.

Extraordinary weather conditions and heavy snowfall make it difficult or completely block access to numerous settlements, endangering the lives and basic living conditions of the population in that part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
