As of today, only the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is replacing 10, 20, 50 and 100 KM banknotes from the period from 1998 to 2009, which have ceased to be legal tender.
The replacement will be done at the Central Bank in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, until the end of 2035, with the condition that the banknotes are whole, without signs of damage or discoloration.
For amounts worth less than 5,000 KM, the applicant is required to prove his identity, and for larger amounts it is necessary to fill out the “request for exchange of out-of-circulation KM banknotes”, which will be available on the website of the Central Bank or at the location where the exchange will take place.
For amounts of 20,000 KM or more, along with the form, it is mandatory to announce the arrival at least 48 hours in advance, by email /zamjena.novcanica.km.sa@cbbh.ba and zamjena.novcanica.km.bl@cbbh.ba/.
These are banknotes that ceased to be legal tender on December 31, 2024, and could be exchanged at commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina until the end of last year, reports Srna.
