The proposer of the decision, the mayor of the municipality of Šamac, Đorđe Milićević, told Srna that it is not right that workers in production activities are free on Sundays, but those in shops are not.
– Sunday is a day for rest, for the family. Employees in shopping centers should have time for their families – said Milićević.
The head of the Municipal Department for Economy and Inspection Affairs, Predrag Nedić, told Srna that in this way, workers in shops, of which there are more than 200 in the area of the Šamac municipality, will be equal to employees in production and craft activities for which Sunday is a non-working day.
He stated that the decision, made on December 26, was published in the “Official Gazette”.
The example of Bosanski Šamac shows that the decision to exempt Orašje from the non-working Sunday was unfounded. These are municipalities that are in the border area with Croatia and relatively close to each other.
