The mayor of Kalesija, Nermin Mujkanović, commented on this morning’s police action in the center of this city, who tried to prevent robbers from escaping after their attempt to rob a jewelry store.
The real film chase took place this morning, and Mujkanović thanked the police officers for their quick reaction precisely because of the involvement of the police officers.
“First of all, I would like to thank the action of the police and the generous attempt to prevent this criminal act, and that is one proof that both the state and the system exist in Kalesija,” Mujkanović said.
He then clarified that this event is under the jurisdiction of the Criminal Police of the MUP of TK and added that the Municipality of Kalesija is already undertaking certain activities.
“What is up to us and the municipality, we have already scheduled the Civil Protection Headquarters for today at 12:00 in order to prepare for tomorrow’s Collegium of the Municipal Council, which is scheduled in the morning at 8:00 a.m. in order to determine the conclusions in which direction the municipality will manifest itself further”, said Mujkanović.
We remind you that the real drama unfolded early this morning in Kalesija when armed robbers tried to rob a jewelry store in the city center, after which a conflict with the police broke out.
The robbers managed to escape, at least for now, and one of them was wounded in a confrontation with the police, after which he died.
According to unofficial information, there were a total of three robbers, two of whom tried to rob the store while the third was waiting in the car.
The owner of the jewelry store was tied up, during which he suffered bodily injuries and, as we have learned, was transferred to the UKC, where he is receiving help.
In the continuation of the events, the robbers, while fleeing from the police, set fire to the car in an attempt to hide the evidence as best as possible.
Also, during the escape, they lost the gold they stole from the jewelry store, and according to the photos sent to us by reporter N1, the police are still on the ground and the area of the incident is surrounded by police tape.
The police received a report about the robbery around 7:35 a.m., after which a real cinematic chase followed the robbers.
After the robbers used firearms, it is not yet known whether they ran away from the police.
After that, the police tried to prevent them from doing so and during the chase they also used firearms, but they did not succeed and the robbers ran away.
Large police forces are involved in the search for them, so in addition to members of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Serbia, their colleagues from Republika Srpska and the Border Police of BiH are also on the ground.
The latest information confirmed by the MUP TK is that an extensive search for the robbers is underway.
