A man tried to “smuggle” corps of his dead mother from Austria to Bulgaria but was stopped and detained at the Serbian border crossing.
The customs officers at the Vrska Cuka crossing between Serbia and Bulgaria discovered dead woman at the back seat of the car.
Serbian media report that Bulgarian citizen was driving corps of his mother in the luxurious car, and was suspicious due to nervousness.
They thought he was smuggling valuable goods or narcotics, but when they tried to speak with the woman, it appeared she was dead.
She was fixed with the seat belt and the man was assuring officers that she was sleeping.
Bulgarian was allegedly taking his mother’s body to Bulgaria by private car, although he knew it was forbidden, in order to avoid paying special transport for corpses.
The woman was born in 1937 and died of natural causes.
