The reception was held in the Rijaset building of the Islamic Community in Kovače, and among the guests were representatives of religious communities, government institutions, the diplomatic corps, and the public, social and cultural life of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Addressing the audience, the reisul-ulema reminded that Eid al-Adha connects Muslims with Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and the values of sacrifice, community and mutual responsibility.
– For a Muslim, on the path of competition for the good, sacrifice is the very essence of faith. Every day, especially on Eid, we repeat again and again how important our human unity is, based on the faith and tradition we associate with Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and our sharing of joy during the holidays – said Husein-ef. Kavazovic.
He added that holiday gatherings should be a confirmation of mutual trust and good neighborly relations.
– I deeply believe that our gatherings on holidays are far more than protocol courtesy. I want to believe that in these moments of joy we renew our neighborly and fraternal vow of caring for each other – said the reisul-ulema.
Speaking about social conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he warned against attempts to spread hatred and undermine mutual trust.
– We see how far some are ready to go to utter insults and spread hatred in order to break the trust that we, with so much sacrifice and commitment, built after the terrible war and aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina – said reisul-ulema Kavazović.
He said that it is necessary to show wisdom and responsibility and not fall for provocations, but also to clearly oppose the spread of confusion among people.
– This does not mean that we should be silent. We need to let them know that we will not agree to that and that we will not follow them – said the reisul-ulema.
At the end of the address, he expressed the hope that “true and Ibrahimic unity” will come to life among people, and congratulated all Muslims on Eid.
The special atmosphere at the opening of the traditional Eid reception was completed by the qasida “Jedno smo” performed by Ibrahim Bilčević.
