– According to the last summary weekly report on seasonal influenza surveillance, during the third week of this year, 1,247 cases of acute respiratory infections – seasonal respiratory infections that occur at the same time as influenza (ARI), were recorded in this canton, followed by 87 cases of diseases that symptoms correspond to influenza (ILI), while severe forms of pneumonia, which can be linked to influenza (SARI), have not been recorded even since the beginning of this season’s surveillance, i.e. since the 40th week 2024 – confirmed Kozica.
As a result, there are no hospitalized patients in the Zenica Cantonal Hospital due to SARI cases, and it is common that, after mid-January, there is a drop in the number of infections as we move towards the month of February.
– The total figures confirm the statements made earlier that this season we have a flu of medium intensity and that the situation is relatively more favorable than last and several past years in this period. This was contributed by the fact that all available vaccines against the seasonal flu for the elderly and chronically ill have been used in most health centers – Kozica points out.
