“The state of reduced physical or mental abilities in our world is called a handicap. The heroine of our story, in addition to her physically impaired abilities, also has an overemphasized empathy towards a specific collection of glass figures, and through music she goes to a world of her own. On the other hand, the world around her is a menagerie of egotistical homosapiens devoid of any kind of empathy. I am of the opinion that influencing reality without empathy leads to destruction, while its mere presence is a prerequisite for creativity and creativity,” director Slobodan Perišić wrote.
The six-member cast consists of: Nataša Ivančević, Darko Stojić, Marija Novaković, Milan Dimić, and musicians Adrian Ivičević and Adis Ismić.
“The way in which this play deals with problems within the family, and within the broader context of the social community, is understandable and direct in the broadest sense, primarily theatrical, and then also in the cultural sense. The way and style of life change over the decades, but the basic drivers of socialization and social position remain relatively the same, to such an extent that even today’s viewer will find the essence, recognize the situation and feel the threat of internal unrest of a family that is exposed and completely vulnerable in every to its segment of existence determined by a general evaluation system that is harsh, rigid and without room for possible mistakes. Even after eighty years since the first stage performance, this piece has the same “inner strength”, reviving an ever-present model of the collapse of a family that wanders through the chaos of its own microcosm.” – said playwright Zoran Todorović.
The playwright of the play is Zoran Todorović, the set designer is Marko Bilbija, the composer is Petar Bilbija, and the costume designers are signed by Nevena Milašinović.
The National Theater of Sarajevo, as part of the collaboration with the National Theater of East Sarajevo, will host the ballet fairy tale “Thumbnail” on February 21, 2025.
