– Pursuant to the provisions of the law, and due to the occurrence of circumstances that indicate that weapons could be misused, police officers of the Police Department of the MUP BPK Goražde in nine cases during 2024 confiscated weapons from persons who possessed authorization. In two cases, weapons were confiscated from persons who did not have the approval of the competent authority, and everything was in accordance with the instructions on the implementation of the amnesty – explained the spokesperson of the Police Administration of the MUP BPK Goražde Jasenko Hadžić.
He reminded that the adoption of a new law on the acquisition, possession and carrying of weapons and ammunition is underway, and the harmonization of regulations and their harmonization with European standards is expected.
– We hereby ask citizens that, if they possess illegal weapons, they can hand them over to the nearest police station or inform the police officers about their possession, and in case of voluntary handing over of illegal weapons, they will not be criminally liable. In this case too, I can say that the citizens cooperate with the police and behave conscientiously and responsibly – said Hadžić.
