Trade and gas stations in neighboring Croatia on Friday were mostly empty due to the boycott of buying from citizens, bitterly due to constant growth prices. The initiative was given in the Facebook group “Halo, Inspector”, and supported numerous associations for consumer protection, and trade unions, the Parties, and the State Minister of Economy.

An identical phenomenon has been present for years and in BiH, where life costs are continuously growing, and there is no basis for numerous price increase. Unlike Croatia, where annual inflation in December amounted to 4.5 percent, the annual price increase in BiH in November, because data for December has not yet, amounted to 1.5 percent. However, food is more expensive for 4.2, and health services for 4.3 percent.

– I am not a supporter of radical measures and I think the key role of the state could play. Measures such as price freezing, introducing differentiated VAT rates, reducing certain excises and the like. The “socially responsible” campaign in RS was excellent, but other activities are needed. However, due to the complexity of the system in BiH, I am afraid that these measures could be absent, so the consumers could be a radical measure like this in Croatia – says Dusan Srdić, President of the Consumer Association “Reaction” from Banja Luka.

Boycott Trade in Croatia will be a good indicator

Admir Arnautović from the Association for Consumer Protection Central Bosnia, says that in the first days this year baked products, oil and other items have been collected. He adds that new prices in BiH we have with the first announcement of the increase in the world, as if domestic trade chains do not even have grams in warehouses.

– And we come to the absurdity, in small stores in rural areas are often more favorable than in shopping centers, which is the best indicator of artificial inflatable prices. If the bread in the countryside costs 1, and in the city 2 km and both bakers make money, we can really talk about artificial inflation prices. And that the prices in Europe are often lower than those on our shelves should not even talk anymore. Boycott Trade in Croatia will be a good indicator of how much actions can be carried out in BiH. This will depend on the results when the official data on issued fiscal accounts is published, but also from which prices will fall. One-day action is good, but the real results will be able to see only if it takes at least a few days – Arnautović points out.
