Inspection of passports, taking prints of at least four fingers and photographing, this is how the entry of citizens of BiH and about 60 other countries into the countries of the European Union and Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, which are members of the Schengen system, will look like from November 10 this year.
Namely, on that date, the new entry and exit system – Entry/Exit System (EES), which was established in November 2017, and whose implementation has been postponed several times, will be in force.
Seven euros
Also, in the middle of next year, the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will become operational, which will be necessary for citizens of countries that currently have a visa-free regime with the EU, and who will have to submit an application for an entry permit online, with the payment of a fee of seven euros, and by bank card. This includes countries such as the United States of America, Canada, Australia and Japan.
Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as stated by the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA), who possess travel documents of the last generation with complete biometrics, will be able to use the new technologies that are being announced. Citizens can get all the necessary information on the ETIAS page, and probably the BiH Border Police will also report on the new rules in the coming period.
When filling out the application for the first time, as stated, citizens will have to enter their personal data, email, phone number, education level details, current occupation, planned travel and stay in any of the countries that require ETIAS, along with their travel document details.
Also, the application will have to include information about criminal convictions, previous trips to war or conflict areas, as well as whether the person has been expelled from any country. When someone submits a request on behalf of another person, they will have to provide their personal and contact information, as well as in what capacity or relationship they are with the person they are applying for.
Additional checks
– When someone makes a claim on your behalf, you must confirm that you have both signed the representation statement. Double check that all information has been entered. Errors in the application can lead to delays or even denial of authorization – it is stated.
After the fee is paid, the application is submitted, and most applications, as stated on the page, are processed within a few minutes, although delays in processing are also possible, of which citizens will be informed. Also, additional information such as a hotel reservation confirmation may be requested. The ETIAS permit will be valid for three years or until the passport is replaced.
Fee exemptions
It is interesting that applicants under the age of 18, those over 70, and family members of EU citizens will be exempted from paying the ETIAS fee.
Also, the compensation will not be paid by family members of citizens of non-EU countries, who have the right to move freely in EU countries.
Emergency medical treatment
For urgent medical treatment, life-threatening cases of persons and their family members or attendance at a funeral, the traveler fills out an ETIAS application for a limited permit in which he states the reason for the trip and it is granted exclusively for travel to certain EU countries and is valid for 90 days.
Persons traveling by air will be screened after landing.
