German air taxi manufacturer Volocopter has declared bankruptcy while it is looking for a new investor, the company announced from its headquarters in Bruchsal, not far from Karlsruhe.
“The company needs financial resources that will allow it to take the final steps to enter the market,” said the new court-appointed receiver.
Volocopter still needs type certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to be able to carry passengers.
Lilium found an investor who will save it from bankruptcy
Volocopter is proceeding on the assumption that an investor will be found next year despite filing for bankruptcy on Thursday.
“In national and international competition, we are far ahead technically, in flight experience and in the certification process,” said CEO Dirk Hoke. Hoke should leave the company at the end of February, reports Index hr.
Last week, the German pioneer in the production of small electric planes Lilium found an investor to save it from bankruptcy. A consortium of investors Mobile Uplift Corporation has signed an agreement to purchase a startup that has been developing small electric planes with vertical takeoff and landing for the past ten years.
